Job Overview:

The Manager IT Solutions is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities in their specialty field related to the design, development, and implementation of application/infrastructure systems, services, and processes. Supports the maintenance and upgrading of their existing application/infrastructure systems and services. Leads team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information, infrastructure, and/or software systems. Manages a team and/or Team Leads, establishing goals and objectives, managing performance and deliverables, and developing and mentoring staff. This position operates with latitude for un-reviewed action or decision. Manages performance and deliverables from a global workforce of associates and vendors that may be operating from various time zones.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the Business Sponsor and delivery teams to determine the technical feasibility of proposed changes for their business area.
  • Lead strategic planning with business customers and in the annual operational planning cycle.
  • Provides functional management for Project Managers delivering business area efforts.
  • Oversees determination of scope and business requirements for changes in their business area.
  • Reviews and approves proposals for the utilization of IT resources and techniques to systems or infrastructure, processes, and procedures, works with external vendors as needed.
  • Manages the execution and delivery of department projects, including problem definition, and recommendation of changes to systems, infrastructure, or processes.
  • Where applicable, ensures that Service Level Agreements are created, and systems are stable for turnover to support services.
  • Oversee efforts in working with application/infrastructure support organizations to assist in the hand-off between development and support.
  • Maintains customer relationships and integration of activities through regular communications with business/IT managers and directors.
  • Identifies and coordinates activities requiring resources across the Information Technology Department.
  • Develop project plans including resource and budget requirements; provide input into the budgeting process regarding area expenses such as travel, training, etc.
  • Accountable for all aspects of managing the team including setting goals and objectives, managing performance, developing associates, staffing, promotions, and salary administration, managing performance utilizing the management system, practices, and tools; applying them to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
  • Stays abreast of emerging technologies and trends in Information Technology disciplines and retail business areas the company serves to drive innovation into the organization.
  • Maintains an environment where all understand, and are committed to, providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Contributes to the ongoing evolution of processes/methodologies that pertain to the software development lifecycle, people management, business processes, or information services,
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline is preferred.
  • ITL Foundations Certification preferred

Experience:

  • 6-8 years of Information Technology experience required.
  • 5+ years of MAWM, Manhattan WMOS or relevant WMS experience
  • 5+ years with Labor Management system experience
  • 5+ years of SCI, MRS or relevant reporting tools.
  • 2-5 years of Oracle PL/SQL or MS SQL query building experience.
  • Experience leading a team(s) made up of associate and contract resources in multiple locations, including offshore required.
  • Experience managing conflicting approaches aligned to the strategic roadmap.
  • Experience managing Vendor Relationships.
  • Experience in Supply Chain business practices.

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to influence key Technical Service and Business leaders.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exposure to methodologies and specific quality assessment/certifications such as SDLC, and PMP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus, and demonstrated ability to work in geographically dispersed teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to create processes and design where none or little exists.
  • Ability to create a strategic landscape that delivers against IT goals.
  • Ability to build strong teams across dispersed work locations, including mentoring and providing developmental goals.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

  • This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

Travel (minor):

  • This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position.
