About us

Established in 1922 as a private golf club, The Thornhill Club has evolved into a distinguished all-season destination with a rich history and a commitment to excellence. The expansion into year-round activities began in 1963 with the addition of a curling rink, transforming our club into a versatile haven for members. Today, our facilities boast an eighteen-hole championship golf course, a nine-hole executive golf course, a curling rink, a full fitness facility, outdoor tennis courts, swimming pool, golf practice areas, a banquet hall and boardroom style rooms for private functions, and of course the Clubhouse.

This position is the front line person for the Club and is responsible for welcoming and assisting Club members and guests at the front desk. The position also encompasses various administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to taking reservations, filing, and processing member payments . The individual in this role reports directly to the Controller and the Lead Reception & Administrative Assistant, and provides secondary support to supervisors and senior management as required.

This is a part-time permanent position

Saturday & Sunday & Statutory Holidays

Hours

  • 9:00am to 3:00pm

Statutory holiday coverage is mandatory. While this position primarily follows a regular schedule, occasional weekday shifts may be offered to provide coverage during staff illness, vacation, or other approved absences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide exceptional customer service to our members and their guests in person and via telephone or email
  • Greeting all guests and offering help to direct them
  • Assist members and guests with general inquiries
  • Accurately take reservations for dining and club functions, notifies Duty Manager of changes or cancellations
  • Prepare and file birthday cards for members once per month
  • Maintaining Club Lost & Found
  • Member mail pick up reminders
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications & Distinctive Skills

  • Must possess the poise associated with this position
  • Self-motivated, creative, resourceful, and efficient
  • Excellent relationship management skills with members and all levels of staff
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Possess a pleasant telephone voice and etiquette
  • Works well independently with limited direction as well as ability to work as a team player
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Jonas experience an asset, but not required
  • Punctual, reliable and accountable

  • Working conditions include sitting for extended periods of time at the reception desk by the main entrance of the building
