Warehouse Operative / Order Picker

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Order Picker to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately selecting and preparing products for dispatch, ensuring efficient warehouse operations. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and familiarity with warehouse management systems. Previous experience in materials handling, shipping and receiving, and stock management will be highly advantageous. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills within a dynamic logistics environment.

Hours will be 8am -5pm Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently pick orders according to customer specifications using warehouse management systems
  • Handle materials safely and accurately, including heavy lifting when necessary
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment in compliance with safety protocols
  • Load and unload goods from lorries, ensuring proper handling and storage
  • Stock shelves and organise inventory to optimise space utilisation
  • Assist with packing orders securely for shipment, maintaining quality control standards
  • Maintain accurate records of stock movements and order status
  • Conduct regular quality checks on products to identify any damages or discrepancies
  • Support shipping & receiving activities, including documentation and inventory updates
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment at all times

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in warehouse operations, including picking & packing, stocking, and materials handling
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar software applications
  • Mechanical knowledge or experience operating forklifts is desirable
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in order accuracy and quality control
  • Good physical fitness with the ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks involving load handling
  • Prior experience in shipping & receiving is advantageous
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and best practices
