How you will create an impact We have an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter I within our Professional Liability/Cyber team in Chicago. This role underwrites under general supervision, issuing quotes and policies while ensuring standards and compliance guidelines are met. These individuals will analyze information and can have an opportunity to connect with clients and brokers. Responsibilities include: Evaluating, prioritizing, and selecting submissions to be underwritten. Identifying risk exposures, special or common hazards, claims experience and appropriate controls. Adhering to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks. Ensuring underwriting files, service standards, and compliance guidelines are adhered to on assigned accounts. Offering coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer. Capturing market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts. What you will need to succeed 1+ years of underwriting or relevant professional experience Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. For Management Liability positions, a working knowledge of financial statements and analysis. Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions, especially regarding technical aspects. Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to self-direct, prioritize work, and meet deadlines. Takes initiative on projects and assignments, seeks alternate solutions when necessary. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
