Job SummaryLocation: Detroit, MI An internship with DTE Energy — Corporate Strategy is a great way to gain insight into a career in the evolving energy industry within a consulting-like atmosphere. The Corporate Strategy group works with all of DTE's business units to address the complex challenges facing the energy industry today. As an intern, candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to multi-disciplinary teams engaged in strategic initiatives. Interns are responsible for assisting in tasks and duties as directed by the intern's project manager and will provide support for critical business projects. In addition to gaining industry and functional knowledge and experience, interns will develop technical knowledge and leadership skills for future career marketability. Sample projects that the group has led in the last two years include: Understanding industry trends and their implications for DTE, e.g., assessing regulatory trends, increases in funding through the IIJA and IRA and the potential growth for the business  Developing and executing the company's electric vehicle strategy, customer outreach, and regulatory engagement Developing and executing the company’s data center strategy from the ground up Leading our digital transformation efforts, including managing the pipeline of potential products to improve the ways we work Establishing a longer-term view on electricity pricing and rates, then translating this view into a strategy for the company to execute Facilitating senior management's strategic planning process, e.g., preparing annual discussion materials for the board of directors

Responsibilities

  • Perform work assignments linked to team/project goals, including financial modeling and analysis
  • Organize and prioritize work assignments on a daily basis, raising questions and issues in a timely manner
  • Perform functions efficiently within scope of authority as defined by the project manager
  • Participate and collaborate with others on team projects as requested
  • All other duties, as required

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree (preferably from a top-teir university) with an expected graduation date between the winter of the current academic year and the summer of the following academic year
  • Strong quantitative and modeling capabilities
  • Ability to communicate results effectively
  • Aptitude for and an interest in strategic thinking and analysis
  • High level of integrity, accountability, confidence, ability to get agreement/buy-in, and a team-oriented work ethic

Nice-to-haves

  • Pursuing a quantitative field, such as engineering, economics, finance, etc.
  • Professional experience demonstrated through prior work, internships, collaborative research projects, etc
  • Strong desire to learn about the energy industry
