Position: Tour Guide

Are you passionate about sharing the beauty, culture, and stories of the Northwest Territories with visitors from around the world? MBYT is seeking an energetic and reliable Tour Guide to deliver exceptional guest experiences across our Aurora tours, city tours, and partner excursions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in dynamic environments, and wants to be part of a growing Indigenous-owned tourism company.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct engaging and safe community and regional tours, sharing the history and culture of the area from Indigenous perspectives.
  • Lead a variety of activities, including city tours, hiking, fishing, cultural practices, demonstrations and more.
  • Transport guests, luggage, winter clothing rentals and supplies using company vehicles.
  • Facilitate guest introductions to other tour operators and activities, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and always ensure guest safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Class 4 Driver’s License preferred (Class 5 considered; Class 4 an asset)
  • Criminal Record Check (required)
  • Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C (required)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable working independently and making decisions in the field
  • Ability to identify hazards and prioritize safety

Additional Assets

  • Knowledge of Yellowknife, NWT history, local culture, and land-based practices
  • Experience in tourism, guiding, hospitality, or customer service
  • Multilingual abilities (Indigenous languages or Spanish considered an asset)
