Brands as a Senior Analyst, KFC U.S. Control, supporting the financial reporting and franchise accounting operations of KFC U.S. This hybrid role, based in Louisville, KY, plays a critical part in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, franchise incentive accounting, royalty reporting, and compliance with US GAAP. As a key member of the KFC U.S. Control team, you will partner cross-functionally with Brand Finance, Accounts Receivable, Franchise Health teams, and more to support period close, quarterly reporting, and franchise financial oversight. Responsibilities

  • Administer accounting, analysis, and reconciliation of KFC U.S. deferred franchise fees and franchise incentives, including ensuring proper revenue recognition; perform annual impairment review of franchise incentives.
  • Administer KFC new store incentive rebates for franchised and licensed stores, including tracking unit activity to ensure compliance with US GAAP and preparing quarterly rebate payments in partnership with Development and Financial Health teams, obtaining CFO approval.
  • Work with back-of-house data from franchised stores to ensure accurate royalty accrual creation in accordance with US GAAP; track periodic actuals vs. accrual estimates and investigate material differences with Brand partners.
  • Review KFC US AFDA report to ensure compliance with Yum! policy; provide guidance to the KFC AR Analyst and work with the KFC Division Controller to navigate policy exceptions.
  • Lead periodic AR close meetings with Control, AR, Brand Finance, and Franchise Health teams to report royalties, franchise direct expenses, and AFDA results.
  • Prepare payment requests to the KFC advertising co-op (NCAC) for equity and license store advertising fees; partner with and support NCAC with franchisee-related inquiries.
  • Prepare deck pages documenting revenue recognition, franchise incentives, franchise receivables, and AFDA for the Controller’s Deck; explain significant quarterly and YTD changes from prior year balances.
  • Prepare and analyze KFC U.S. sales and royalty schedules in HFM and related MD&A reporting package pages; gather and review data, explain significant changes, and review results with the KFC U.S. Controller.
  • Coordinate and provide timely responses to KPMG and Yum! Internal Audit during quarterly reviews and annual audit procedures; support preparation and related audit of annual financial statements and notes included in the Franchise Disclosure Document for KFC US, LLC; assist with special projects and support the KFC Finance team in explaining variances and related inquiries.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle Hyperion Financial Management and JDE
  • Public accounting firm or public company corporate accounting experience
  • CPA or active CPA candidate
