POSITION OVERVIEW: TAS Design & Drafting Group reviews customer requirements, specifications, manufacturing constraints and other design inputs to generate comprehensive packaged equipment designs and system layouts. The department develops models and drawings based on the design intent communicated by TAS Project Engineers. These system designs include the appropriate structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls sub-assemblies. Design outputs are communicated through 3D/CAD drawings for the purchase of incorporated components and manufacture of TAS products. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Interprets piping and instrument diagrams, site layouts, equipment layouts, piping plan drawings, process flow diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and GA drawings with respect to packaged equipment system designs Builds and maintains effective working relationships with other designers and departments Maintains drafting production schedule for different types of drawings along with ensuring accuracy of deliverables Creates 3D models and layouts including mating surfaces, finding correct library parts, performing extrusions, creating assemblies, exploded view diagrams with BOM’s Produces layouts and section views with BOM’s, callouts, and dimensions Reviews scope documents and specifications for verification of design against the design intent and customer requirements Demonstrates ability execute designs on basic projects Conducts model reviews per department processes with assistance Supports the desired culture and work environment of the department Executes the design process per department processes from inception to closure Any other responsibility as assigned by TAS JOB SKILLS: Experience with weldments, pipe routing, and designing skids and piping Experience in package/plant designs and layouts with broad knowledge of technical applications, maintenance, operation, and clearance constraints of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems Knowledgeable of codes typically applicable to TAS equipment including NEC, IEC, ASME, AISC, AWS, UMC, OSHA, and building codes etc. A self-starter and highly skilled Solid Works designer capable of performing all design, and Solid Works modeling tasks required for delivering production level drawings to purchasing and production departments with limited direction EDUCATION & TRAINING: High school diploma Associates Degree in a technical discipline or graphics design is a plus MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Capable of producing package/plant designs and layouts with basic knowledge of technical applications, maintenance, operation, and clearance constraints of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems Awareness of codes typically applicable to TAS equipment including NEC, IEC, ASME, AISC, AWS, UMC, OSHA, and building codes etc. Capable of performing most design and Solid Works modeling tasks required for delivering production level drawings to purchasing and production departments under direction or supervision of senior designers and engineers. 8+ years of mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls design experience relevant to manufacture of TAS products Experience with Solid Works AutoCAD and arenaflex office suite experience PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Experience in HVAC, piping design, and industrial plant design PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading.
