Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented SolidWorks Design Engineer to join our design team. In this role, you will assist in creating 3D models and technical drawings for architectural metalwork and structural steel projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their career to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of SolidWorks, a keen eye for detail, and a strong desire to learn and grow in the field of design engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks for architectural metalwork and structural steel projects.
  • Support the design team in the preparation of fabrication drawings, part drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Work closely with senior draughtsmen to ensure designs meet project requirements, safety standards, and client specifications.
  • Learn and apply best practises in design, manufacturing processes, and materials used in architectural metalwork and structural steel.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on improving designs based on feedback and project needs.
  • Assist in conducting basic design analysis to ensure structural integrity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the site and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet project deadlines.
  • Stay updated on new tools and techniques in SolidWorks and design engineering to enhance skills and efficiency.
  • Assist in prototyping, testing, and product assembly as required to ensure designs are executed accurately.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of design documentation and revision control.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent educational background).
  • Experience with SolidWorks, including creating 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings.
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow in the field of design engineering.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and an understanding of basic structural analysis.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials commonly used in architectural metalwork and structural steel is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other design software.
  • Basic understanding of welding, sheet metal work, and fabrication techniques.
  • Interest in architectural design or structural engineering.

Pay: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
