Social Media and Community Specialist

About the position

PurposeMed is looking for a Social Media & Community Specialist who is passionate about social media and also thrives on logistical execution. You will be responsible for managing and growing Freddie’s social presence across all social platforms, ensuring we are always part of the conversation, leading queer culture, and building meaningful connections with our audience, while also coordinating the reliable delivery of patient benefits. This role is perfect for someone who is both creative and operationally sound—someone who can spot trends, create standout content, and simultaneously manage vendors and partners effectively. We’re looking for someone who is chronically online and deeply organized. You will help position Freddie as the #1 HIV prevention and treatment provider in North America by building a vibrant, engaged social community that reflects and celebrates our audience. Reporting to our Senior Brand Manager, this role will work closely with our broader marketing and creative teams to ensure Freddie’s voice shows up consistently across every touchpoint, from TikTok trends to real-time cultural moments to Pride events on the ground.

Responsibilities

  • Growing our Social Media Presence & Nurturing our Online Community (35%)
  • Managing all Freddie social accounts (Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) with a consistent, culturally relevant brand voice that drives engagement, brand awareness and patient growth
  • Monitoring and moderating all comments and DMs across organic and paid content to ensure our community feels seen, heard, and supported
  • Actively engaging with followers, creators, and cultural accounts to keep Freddie connected to the conversations that matter
  • Encouraging user-generated content and authentic engagement with patients, creators, and fans of the brand
  • Collaborating with paid media and creative teams to ensure organic and paid strategies work together seamlessly
  • Owning the Adult Creator Program within the Broader Paid Marketing Program (20%)
  • Scaling Freddie’s adult creator program across key social platforms
  • Sourcing, contracting, and onboarding new creators weekly to maintain a consistent, brand-aligned pipeline
  • Ensuring all creator assets meet Freddie’s brand and compliance standards
  • Aligning organic creator content with paid strategies to drive efficiency and conversions
  • Owning monthly performance goals and optimizing the program to meet conversion targets
  • Maintaining comfortability working with sexually explicit content in a professional, brand-safe, and compliance-led context

  • Producing and editing short-form videos, memes, and visuals that resonate with Freddie’s audience, from quick trend reactions to evergreen educational content
  • Partnering with our internal creative team, partners, and creators to bring campaign ideas to life across social
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of our brand tone and visual identity to ensure consistency across all content
  • Keeping a pulse on what’s trending across social media and jumping on opportunities quickly to ensure Freddie stays ahead of the curve
  • Attending IRL events, including Pride and community gatherings, to create on-the-ground content and represent Freddie in person
  • Tracking and Optimizing Performance (15%)
  • Reporting on social performance, engagement trends, and audience insights while providing recommendations to optimize and grow impact
  • Analyzing what content drives results and using those learnings to inform future creative strategies
  • Owning organic social performance as a revenue-driving channel, with clear accountability for sign-ups and conversion, and developing strategies to increase acquisition through content and community engagement
  • Exploring and testing emerging social platforms to identify new opportunities for Freddie to lead in the category
  • Freddie Perks Fulfillment & Partner Management (10%)
  • Acting as the primary liaison with our 3PL partners, coordinating inventory levels, managing shipping logistics, and resolving fulfillment issues to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of member perks and benefits
  • Overseeing the end-to-end delivery of all member benefit items, guaranteeing a high-quality unboxing experience and reliable supply to enhance patient satisfaction
  • Managing vendor sourcing and qualification process for all member benefit supplies, negotiating terms and securing reliable, cost-effective partnerships
  • Tracking and managing vendor contracts, timelines, and budgets for all merchandise and kits

Requirements

  • Has 3-5 years of experience managing social media for a brand, agency, or creator, ideally in lifestyle, healthcare, or community-driven industries
  • Has strong content creation skills, including copywriting, photo/video editing, and graphic design (Canva proficiency required, Adobe Creative Suite a plus)
  • Understands social media strategy, community management, and analytics, from trend tracking to engagement growth to reporting
  • Knows how to stay on top of culture, identifying what’s trending and finding ways to make it relevant for Freddie’s audience
  • Has proven experience with external stakeholders, and can juggle multiple conversations at once
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments, balancing multiple platforms, deadlines, and priorities
  • Has exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach to teamwork
  • Is comfortable with light administrative work that supports reporting, scheduling, and influencer coordination
  • Holds a valid passport and can travel occasionally across Canada and the U.S. for events like Pride and other community initiatives
  • Has a deep passion for PurposeMed’s mission and an understanding of the LGBTQ2S+ community, culture, and conversations
