Due to an active client project, we are currently recruiting for a part-time Group Accountant to support a defined insurance portfolio run-off project.</p> <p>This is a role that can be fulfilled as half-day or three full days per week, offered on an initial six-month contract, linked directly to project requirements. The role is ideal for an experienced insurance accountant or bookkeeper seeking flexible, remote, project-based work.</p> <p><strong>Interviews are underway, and we are moving quickly to shortlist suitable candidates.</strong></p><p><strong><br></strong></p> <h2><strong>The Role</strong></h2> <p><strong></strong>We are seeking an experienced Group Accountant with insurance bookkeeping experience to oversee financial reporting, compliance, and accounting activities during the responsible run-off of an insurance portfolio.</p> <p>You will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting, while acting as a liaison between operational finance, auditors, and external stakeholders.</p> <p></p> <h2><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h2> <p><strong>Insurance Run-Off Financial Management</strong></p> <ul><li>Maintain and update cash flow forecasts to ensure solvency and liquidity compliance</li><li>Prepare monthly management accounts and Board reporting packs</li><li>Monitor capital adequacy in line with AFSL requirements</li><li>Support external audits and going-concern assessments</li></ul> <p><strong>Trust Account & Premium Administration</strong></p> <ul><li>Manage daily trust account receipts, refunds, and reconciliations</li><li>Process and reconcile broker bordereaux</li><li>Oversee premium collections and broker commission settlements</li><li>Ensure compliance with ASIC and trust account regulations</li><li>Liaise with auditors on trust account matters</li></ul> <p><strong>Operational Accounting</strong></p> <ul><li>Process supplier payments and skeleton payroll</li><li>Maintain general ledger integrity (Xero)</li><li>Perform monthly bank reconciliations</li><li>Manage intercompany recharges</li><li>Prepare and submit quarterly BAS returns</li></ul> <p><strong>Stakeholder Engagement</strong></p> <ul><li>Liaise with brokers, auditors, and external service providers</li><li>Respond to finance-related queries related to payments and settlements</li><li>Support internal stakeholders with run-off reporting and financial analysis</li></ul> <p></p> <h2><strong>Minimum Requirements</strong><br></h2> <ul><li>Minimum 3+ years’ experience specifically within short term insurance or financial services accounting</li><li>Experience supporting insurance portfolios, trust accounts, or run-off environments</li><li>Proficient in accounting systems and tools (e.g. Xero, Excel)</li><li>Willingness to time-shift to support an <strong>Australian </strong>brokerage</li><li>Fully set up for remote work with backup power and internet</li><li>Strong English proficiency, professional presence, and confidence</li></ul>
