STP’s Ideal Tutor Profile

We are extremely selective about who joins our team.

Strategic Test Prep tutors don’t just teach content. They set the standard.

To thrive here, you must embody all five of our core values:

1. Passion

You genuinely care about students and take pride in your craft. You bring energy to sessions and constantly look for ways to improve outcomes.

2. Reliability

If you say you’ll do something, it gets done. On time. Every time. Students and families trust you because you are consistent and dependable.

3. Commitment

You don’t disappear when things get difficult. You take ownership of your students’ results and follow through.

4. Team-First Mentality

You communicate clearly, respect processes, and collaborate with leadership and fellow tutors. We operate as a team — not as isolated contractors.

5. Coachable

You welcome feedback. You actively refine your teaching. Growth is expected here.

If you are looking for a casual side gig, this role is not a fit.If you are serious about mastering your craft and working with high-achieving students, you will thrive here.

Requirements:

  • Availability: Consistent evening and weekend availability, when most students schedule sessions.
  • Time Commitment: Able to maintain 15–25 tutoring hours per week, with opportunities to take on additional paid tasks if desired.
  • SAT/ACT Baseline Requirement: All candidates must complete a full-length mock SAT or ACT (your choice) prior to hire and achieve a minimum score of 1450+ (SAT) or 34+ (ACT).
  • Teaching Entire Test: Our tutors are expected to teach the full SAT or ACT — not just one section. If math is your strength, that’s a great starting point. We provide training on the verbal side, but you must demonstrate strong overall mastery of the exam through your diagnostic score.
  • Experience: Prior tutoring experience (ideally 2+ years) with a proven record of helping students achieve measurable score gains.
  • Professionalism: Reliable, punctual, and responsive in communication with students, parents, and the STP team.

How to Apply:

To ensure we review serious candidates thoroughly, we do not accept applications submitted directly through Indeed.

1. A 60–90 Second Video Introduction
In 60–90 seconds, tell us why you love tutoring and what makes you effective with high-achieving students. This does not need to be polished or edited — we simply want to get a sense of who you are.
Please upload your video to Google Drive or YouTube and share the link.
