[Remote] Senior Voluntary Benefits Consultant

The Senior Voluntary Benefits Consultant acts as a subject matter expert, providing sales and account management support for voluntary benefits products, and is responsible for developing solutions and maintaining relationships with vendors and clients. Responsibilities • Partners with internal teammates, working collaboratively to develop voluntary benefits solutions for our clients. Act as a subject matter expert responsible for educating, advising and aiding internal sales and account executives as well as clients on all voluntary benefits products to include: Critical Illness, Accident Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity, Permanent Life, Long Term Care, Back-Up Care & Caregiving Programs, Legal, ID Theft, Pet Insurance, Home & Auto, Discount/Perk Platforms, Financial Wellness and Student Loan Programs • Act as a subject matter specialist on enrollment platforms and best approaches for enrolling VB products. Consults on new business opportunities with clients and prospects to enhance the client’s understanding of market opportunities • Lead voluntary benefits plan design development for clients with a specific focus on creating plans with the best possible value to the employee by eliminating benefit duplication across all available benefits and identifying synergies between client and carriers • Assist with the request for proposal (RFP) process for all new and renewal voluntary benefits business, leveraging best practices and tools. Act as liaison between client teams and carriers/vendors to provide expertise and guidance • Develop and maintain productive relationships with voluntary benefits marketplace vendor representatives, acts as the liaison between vendors and internal resources, leveraging relationships and enhancing collaboration • Stays current on new voluntary benefits offerings, changes in the voluntary benefits landscape and product marketplace. Regularly meet with Voluntary product vendors to fully understand market offerings • Stays current, documents and communicates internally all information regarding the voluntary benefits market to ensure internal resources have the latest and best information on all new developments in the market, including new product offerings or changes • Build internal and external PowerPoint decks to ensure accurate, well organized information is shared • Build internal processes, roadmaps and strategies for new and existing voluntary benefits • Support sales and prospecting (of both new and existing clients) efforts through the development of documents and sales presentation materials, participates in client facing prospecting and development meetings • Support client implementation needs including interface with carriers, enrollment vendors, communication partners • Assist clients in the design of their communication and enrollment strategy • Mentors and trains other teammates on the Voluntary Benefits team as requested • Other duties as assigned Skills • Bachelor's Degree in a related business field • Minimum 12+ years' experience in similar role at comparable level in group insurance with carrier or on consulting side; 3-5 years in a consultant role • Expertise in voluntary benefits products and the voluntary benefits marketplace, ability to devise recommendations and solutions based upon client needs • Strong understanding of voluntary benefit enrollment strategies • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with significant strength and experience in managing complex, concurrent projects within compressed timetables • Demonstrates good listening ability with exceptional interpersonal communication skills needed to build relationships and strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization • Demonstrated project management, analytical and consulting skills • Viewed as an expert in the field with the ability to establish credibility at all levels of the organization and with clients through confident communications, presentations and actions based on integrity • Strong work ethic, self-directed with positive drive and approach, including the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a dynamic virtual team • Strong attention to detail with highly developed organizational skills • Strong competency with arenaflex applications especially PowerPoint; web based and cloud applications and other toolsets.
