[Remote] Roku BrightScript Developer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Softworld, a Kelly Company, is seeking a hands-on Mid–Senior Roku Developer to design, develop, and optimize OTT streaming applications. The role involves working with BrightScript and SceneGraph to integrate content feeds and video playback features while ensuring high performance across Roku devices.


Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Roku apps using BrightScript
  • Create reusable, scalable UI components using SceneGraph
  • Integrate with REST APIs, content feeds, and authentication services
  • Implement HLS/DASH adaptive streaming
  • Optimize performance and memory usage across Roku devices
  • Debug playback, DRM, and streaming-related issues
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to deliver pixel-perfect interfaces
  • Lead code reviews and enforce development standards
  • Package, deploy, and release Roku channels
  • Troubleshoot production issues and monitor app performance

Skills

  • 4–8+ years software development experience
  • 3+ years Roku development experience
  • Strong expertise in BrightScript & SceneGraph
  • Experience building OTT/media streaming applications
  • Knowledge of: HLS / MPEG-DASH
  • Knowledge of: Video codecs (H.264 / H.265)
  • Knowledge of: DRM concepts (Widevine, PlayReady, FairPlay)
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and Git
  • Strong debugging and performance optimization skills
  • Roku Advertising Framework (RAF) experience
  • Subscription / AVOD / SVOD monetization
  • CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
  • Analytics integration (Conviva, Adobe Analytics, Roku Analytics)
