Remote Certified Professional Coder (CPC) for US Healthcare Process

Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) to join our expanding remote US healthcare team. This role is ideal for skilled medical coding professionals who possess strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II coding systems. The successful candidate will ensure accuracy and compliance in medical billing and coding processes while adhering to US healthcare regulations and payer guidelines. You will work closely with physicians, auditors, and billing teams to maintain efficient claims processing and revenue cycle management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes to medical records for various specialties.

  • Review and interpret medical documentation to ensure correct code assignment and compliance.

  • Validate the accuracy of patient data, diagnoses, and procedures prior to claim submission.

  • Work with billing teams to resolve claim denials and rejections related to coding errors.

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer-specific coding guidelines.

  • Conduct audits and provide feedback to healthcare providers on documentation improvements.

  • Stay updated with changes in coding regulations, payer policies, and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve overall coding accuracy and efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Active CPC certification from AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) – mandatory.

  • Strong understanding of US healthcare billing and coding systems.

  • Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.

  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) and medical billing software.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet productivity and accuracy goals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in US healthcare medical coding.

  • Experience in multi-specialty coding (E/M, Surgery, Radiology, or Anesthesia) preferred.

  • Fresh CPC-certified professionals with strong coding fundamentals are also encouraged to apply.

Working Hours

  • Flexible remote schedule aligned with US time zones (EST/PST).
