About the Franchise Academy Development Program

The NOFRILLS Franchise Academy is a full-time, immersive experience that combines operational training, leadership development, and strategic project work. Through this program, you will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in high-performing NOFRILLS locations nationally
  • Receive mentorship from experienced Franchise Owners
  • Lead operational projects and contribute to banner-wide initiatives
  • Develop a deep understanding of the NOFRILLS business model
  • Build meaningful connections across our national store network

Upon successful completion, candidates will be eligible to apply for franchise opportunities and join a network of over 150+ successful Academy graduates who now operate their own NOFRILLS stores.

Who We’re Looking For:

We are seeking dynamic individuals from diverse backgrounds who have a passion for retail, food, and community service. You’ll thrive in this role if you have the following:

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive leadership experience in the grocery and/or retail sector
  • A strong understanding of store operations, merchandising, and financial performance (P&L, budgeting, shrink, labour management)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in unionized or non-union environments
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial drive
  • Commitment to community engagement and values-driven leadership
  • Flexibility to travel across Canada during the program
  • Willingness to relocate (provincially or nationally) for franchise opportunities upon training completion

Program Requirements:

  • Ability to participate in a national, full-time program
  • Flexibility to support special projects and travel as needed
  • Readiness to relocate for franchise opportunities
  • Successful completion of a background check is required
  • Personal investment of $50,000 readily available
