This is a great role for an early career journalist who wants to learn more about how a newsroom operates. The role will work closely with the vice presidents of news for both stations and other news managers, providing administrative and editorial support.<br /> Job responsibilities:<br /> • Make calls, book guests, monitor competition, etc. in breaking news situations.<br /> • Book guests by working with show producers for Impact, En Foque, Voices and others to streamline the process and avoid duplication.<br /> • Coordinate virtual and studio shoot schedule for shows to avoid conflicts.<br /> • Book travel accommodations for duopoly news crews.<br /> • Be involved in big story planning coverage to coordinate appropriate travel and staffing needs.<br /> • Manage and communicate schedules for duopoly newsroom employees with input from news management team.<br /> • Track all employees time off in Breeze.<br /> • Manage and track expenses on newsroom p-card.<br /> • Assist newsroom staff with corporate T&E card expenses.<br /> • Maintain office supplies.<br /> • Help assist during major news events including hurricanes and Election Day coverage.<br /> • Help onboard new employees.<br /> • Organize monthly lunch and learns for the newsroom.<br /> • Monitor and distribute competition story lists, when necessary.<br /> • Manage newsroom's meeting calendar and distribution lists to make sure events and emails are going to the right people.<br /> • Request credentials for staff to cover important events.<br /> • Serve as newsroom liaison with other departments.<br /> • Encourage, coordinate and track staff involvement in community/station events with creative services.<br /> • Train to be able to fill in on desk or writing for linear/digital.<br /> Qualifications<br /> • Experience with journalism (college coursework, university television, internships, etc.)<br /> • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.<br /> • Must be available to work overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or required<br /> • Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shift and willingness to travel and work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short notice.<br /> • Must be willing to work on-site in Miramar, FL.<br /> • Must be 18 years or greater.<br /> • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.<br /> • Must be willing to work in high-risk emergency situations including hurricanes.<br /> <br /> Desired Characteristics:<br /> • Ability to quickly learn how the newsroom operates.<br /> • Clear and concise communication skills.<br /> • Efficient multitasker with excellent time management.<br /> • Resourceful with a keen eye for detail.<br /> • Excellent news instincts with the ability to react decisively to breaking news.<br /> • Must have the desire to work in a creative, demanding, competitive news environment.<br /> • Collaborative and team oriented.<br /> <p id='jobcode'>Jobcode: Reference SBJ-qk69z9-104-23-211-222-42 in your application.</p> </p>
