Medical Information Liaison (Remote)

Overview Myriad Genetic Laboratories (MGL) is seeking a creative and energetic individual to join a team of 10+ Genetic Counselors/Medical Information Liaisons (MILs). This position has the flexibility to be located onsite at our laboratory in Salt Lake City, UT or remote work from home position. Our laboratory Medical Information Liaisons provide a wide range of services for Myriad Genetic Laboratories, including: • Daily interactions with healthcare providers and patients regarding all aspects of hereditary cancer testing as well as limited tumor test options. These interactions include discussion of a variety of topics including risk assessment, interpretation of results, medical management, sample submission, and laboratory procedures. • MIL team members provide clinical information and interact extensively with other departments at MGL (Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, and Laboratory Operations). • Development and execution of individual research studies, laboratory initiatives, marketing programs, new product evaluation and development, and other projects. • Providing scientific and clinical expertise to the Variant Classification Team • Development and presentation of in-house training programs and involvement with the University of Utah Genetic Counseling Training Program as well as other training programs nationwide. This is an excellent position for anyone who would like to build and expand their genetic counseling skills, develop expertise in a wide range of oncology testing, and explore varied roles for genetic counselors. This is a unique position as it provides opportunities for business/corporate involvement as well as direct patient interaction. Continuing education is a priority. Attendance at professional meetings is supported and encouraged, as is participation in professional organizations. Qualifications • American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certified or be eligible for active candidate status required. • Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to work independently and a strong focus and commitment to the highest standards in supporting Myriad clients and their patients • If the applicant is looking for a home-based position, the applicant must have a dedicated, HIPAA compliant home work space with high-speed internet access. • Occasional travel to Salt Lake City for ongoing training and/or project participation may be require Physical Requirements Lifting Requirements - sedentary to light work or exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, and observing. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. OSHA category III - normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue and as part of the employment, will not be called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
