Logistics Intern

Maxim Crane Works is seeking Logistics Intern to join our team this summer in Wilder, KY!

Position Summary:
The Logistics Intern will work directly with the Transportation and Logistics team to gain hands-on experience in heavy haul transportation operations. This role provides exposure to real-time logistics planning, vendor coordination, cost tracking, and cross-functional communication within a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shadow Transportation Coordinators on daily crane and heavy haul moves
  • Assist with shipment planning, scheduling, and tracking
  • Gather and organize freight quotes from carriers and brokers
  • Support vendor communication and relationship management
  • Perform data entry for load sheets, job tickets, and freight tracking
  • Assist with cost tracking and reporting
  • Communicate with Sales, Branch Managers, and Field Operations regarding move updates

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical ability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Motivated to learn in a fast-paced environment

Language Skills:

Must be able to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of an outside sales job. Moderate physical effort required; including sitting, standing, walking, using a keyboard, and a phone are regular actions performed in this role. Occasional exposure to the elements may occur while visiting Maxim locations or customer job sites. Must be alert and aware while driving on company business.
