Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist leadership with daily tasks including safety toolbox meetings, equipment inspection, and road condition inspection reports

  • Support Foreperson in the planning of work to meet contractual milestones

  • Monitor the quality of work performed by the crew

  • Operate equipment on work sites as needed

  • Help ensure health, safety, and environment related concerns are addressed promptly

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license with air endorsement and a clear 3-year driver's abstract

  • Previous supervisory experience in highway maintenance, road construction, bridges or related field is required

  • Snow plow experience is preferred

  • Strong understanding of provincial and/or municipal highway maintenance specifications

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Computer skills are an asset

  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol and audiogram testing

Work Conditions:

  • Local candidates will be given preference due to the location of the work

  • Will be required to work shifts, on-call, and nights as necessary

  • Benefits provided by CLAC

  • Work will be outdoors in various weather conditions

Rates & Premiums:

  • Will be provided a base hourly rate of $33.25/hr

  • Eligible to receive premiums of $5/hour, when operating a tandem or triaxle snow plow

  • Eligible to receive premiums of $3/hour, when operating a 2 or 3 ton plow truck

  • Operators will be eligible to receive a premium of $1.50/hr when operating Class 1 equipment
