K–12 Reading & Writing Tutor (Ottawa Region)

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Tutor to provide personalized instruction and support to students across various subjects. We require skilled K–12 Reading & Writing Teachers who are comfortable supporting diverse learning needs, including autistic students and students with learning differences.

The ideal candidate is flexible, patient, and confident adapting instruction to individual learners. Teachers who can also support additional subjects (e.g., Math, Science, ESL, Study Skills) will be prioritized, as this adds value to families and supports program growth.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured, engaging reading and writing lessons for K–12 students
  • Support literacy development, comprehension, grammar, and written expression
  • Adapt lessons for neurodiverse learners, including autistic students, using clear routines and student-centered strategies
  • Follow KStudy’s in-house training, lesson frameworks, and progress reporting standards
  • Communicate progress clearly with parents and the KStudy team
  • Maintain professionalism in in-home and online learning environments
  • Deliver engaging tutoring sessions in subjects such as language, math, or science, tailored to each student’s learning style and level
  • Assist students with homework, exam preparation, and understanding complex concepts
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement

Skills

  • Prior experience working with children or in classroom settings is preferred
  • Strong writing skills for creating lesson plans and educational content
  • Proven tutoring or teaching experience demonstrating effective instructional techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Passion for education and helping students succeed

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$20.50 per hour

Expected hours: 4 – 10 per week
