SummaryThe virtual nurse provides professional nursing care via remote monitoring modalities at a remote monitoring location to support clinicians and patients. Participates as a member of the collaborative team to provide virtual encounters for a variety of clinical conditions. The virtual nurse encounter promotes the support of clinical staff in activities that do not require direct physical contact (surveillance and rounding, admission, discharge, education, guidance in policy or practice). The Virtual Nurse also supports colleagues through coaching and mentoring. Demonstrates effective communication skills that support a team approach for optimal patient care. The Virtual Nurse position maintains a schedule that includes direct patient care shifts and virtual nursing care shifts. Job Duties
- Collaborates with the interprofessional team utilizing technology to optimize alternative modes of care delivery.
- Actively participates in patient care activities that do not require direct physical contact to support the clinicians (admission, discharge, patient education, patient teaching, etc.)
- Evaluates and interprets patient assessment data for designated patients. Recognizes the need for and initiates collaboration/communication with providers/interdisciplinary team members and takes action to proactively resolve patients' needs.

- Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to specialty.
- Basic proficiency in medication administration examination within the first six weeks.
- Successful completion of cardiac arrhythmia interpretation course by completion of orientation or passing score on challenge exam for cardiac arrhythmia interpretation course.
- Successful completion of LVHN emergency care curriculum or previous emergency nursing experience for ED Virtual positions.
