As a Field Service Engineer for Drives and Crane Automation Systems, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and performance of industrial crane operations, with a strong focus on Siemens Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), crane automation, and motion control systems. This role involves engineering, commissioning, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining integrated Siemens automation solutions, including drive systems, PLCs, motion controllers, HMI platforms, and crane management systems, supporting both on-site and remote service activities across complex industrial environments.

Field Service Engineer for Drives and Crane Automation Systems shall be responsible for:


  • Commission, service, troubleshoot, and optimize Siemens drive systems including SINAMICS S120, G120, and G150 …etc.
  • Perform parameterization, tuning, and fault analysis of VFDs for hoisting, trolley, gantry, slewing, and auxiliary crane motions.
  • Execute on-site and remote support activities for crane automation systems including SIMOCRANE, Crane Management System (CMS), and Remote Crane Management System (RCMS).
  • Diagnose and resolve system-level issues involving drives, PLCs, motion controllers, HMIs, and field instrumentation.
  • Commission, modify, and troubleshoot SIMATIC PLC systems (S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200, S7-1500) and associated I/O.
  • Configure, test, and support SIMOTION-based motion control systems.
  • Develop, adapt, and debug PLC and motion logic using TIA Portal and SIMATIC Manager.
  • Configure, test, and maintain HMI and SCADA systems using WinCC technologies.
  • Perform communication diagnostics and optimization for PROFINET, PROFIBUS, and industrial Ethernet networks.
  • Carry out system backups, firmware upgrades, and software updates in line with Siemens engineering standards.
  • Support preventive maintenance, health checks, and modernization activities for crane and drive systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for system failures and performance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements, crane standards, and Siemens best practices.
  • Prepare service reports, technical documentation, and as-built records following service execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to customers, site teams, and internal stakeholders during commissioning, breakdowns, and shutdowns.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Siemens VFDs (S120, G120, G150).
  • Proven experience in crane applications and crane automation.
  • Knowledge of SIMOCRANE, CMS, and RCMS.
  • Solid experience with SIMATIC PLCs (S7-300 / 400 / 1200 / 1500).
  • Experience with SIMOTION motion control.
  • Proficiency in TIA Portal, SIMATIC Manager, and WinCC.
  • Knowledge of crane safety standards and industrial safety systems.
  • Experience with encoder systems, load cells, and crane field instrumentation.
  • Experience in ports, smelters, steel, mining, or heavy industries
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with Siemens or similar industrial automation platforms.

Your Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Willingness to travel and work in industrial environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • System-level thinking (drives + PLC + motion + HMI).
  • Customer-oriented and service mindset.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Siemens certifications in Drives, PLC, or Motion Control (preferred).
  • Valid UAE driving license.
