Job Summary As a Big Data Analyst at Southwest Airlines, you will be responsible for driving complex data integration projects, developing and maintaining self-service data assets, and providing data-driven insights to inform business decisions. Key Responsibilities Drive complex self-service data integration projects that unite data from disparate sources to make it accessible to business clients like data scientists, analysts, and scientific clients. Lead informal groups to apply advanced data integration techniques and tools to massive datasets to create plans that can be used in descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. Collaborate with functional leaders across multiple and simultaneous projects to ensure seamless data integration and analysis. Define and communicate solutions and decisions to stakeholders, ensuring that data-driven insights inform business outcomes. Serve as an informed authority for data assets and monitor the ongoing viability of data assets being used by business clients in self-service environments. Support the ongoing development of the Southwest Airlines data science center and community. May perform other work obligations as directed by Employee's Chiefs. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering). Middle-level knowledge of both inductive and deductive reasoning and problem-solving approaches. Middle-level knowledge in assessing and applying appropriate data analysis and statistical methods for a business issue. Middle-level knowledge of obtaining and consuming data in both social and non-SQL databases. Middle-level knowledge in integrating, storing, and processing large amounts of data vital for analysis and modeling. Skilled in at least one data programming language and open-source tools. Skilled in at least one data integration and business intelligence tool. Skilled in technology platforms and models relevant to creating and maintaining self-service data assets. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Master's or Ph.D.). Experience working with large datasets and complex data integration projects. Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and predictive analytics techniques. Experience with cloud-based data platforms and tools (e.g., AWS, Azure, bolthires Cloud).
