<p><u><strong>Please note: If you have recently submitted an application for this position, it is not necessary to reapply.</strong></u></p><p>Operates heavy automotive and other specialized equipment in the Sanitation Division of the Public Works Department.</p><div style="text-align: center;"><strong>Position Highlights</strong></div><br><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;" id="isPasted"><li>Uniforms provided (11pants/11 shirts)</li><li>Boot allowance up to $200</li><li>Personal Protective Safety Equipment</li><li>Promotional and cross-training opportunities</li><li>Professional development</li><li>Flexible work schedules</li><li>Wellness incentives</li><li>Free exercise rooms</li><li>Free employee parking</li><li>Competitive salary</li></ul><br><p>1.  Operates heavy automotive and specialized equipment including street sweeper, one-man sanitation truck, 40-yard container, truck and trailer. <br>2.  Operates brush tractor with grapple buckets and hand load rear-loaders, balers, sorting lines, crane trucks and forklifts. <br>3.  Fills the street sweeper water tanks and regulates valves controlling water supply. <br>4.  Empties containers into the sanitation truck and operates the hydraulic packer to compact refuse.  Identifies non-collectable, acceptable waste. <br>5.  Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on the equipment such as cleaning fueling, checking and adding oil, filling radiator and maintaining tire pressure.  Other minor maintenance may include adjusting or replacement of gutter brooms, conveyor belts, and pick-up brooms. <br>6.  Performs safety checks on equipment. <br>7.  Monitors to assure the quality in refuse collection, recyclable collection, and in the sorting and bailing of recyclable materials. <br>8.  Operates portable radios. <br>9.  Keeps daily log of work performed, mileage, tons dumped, equipment condition and performance. <br>10.  Completes accident report forms and time sheets. <br>11.  Completes public violation notifications and corrective action tags. <br>12.  Repairs and delivers containers for commercial and residential customers. <br>13. Operates city vehicles which require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).<br>14.  Performs other related duties as assigned.</p><p>One year of experience in the operation of heavy automotive and specialized equipment.</p><strong><em>Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on City business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on City business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0;">Registration with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse) is a requirement for all CDL holders. Selected candidates will be required to register and authorize the City of Glendale to conduct limited queries on their CDL for the duration of their employment in order to be considered for this role.
