Job Description

AECOM's Water group is searching for an Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Programmer – EIT of Electrical, Instrumentation and Control for a large capital project of a highly integrated Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in the water and wastewater treatment industry. Experience in the application and startup of industrial process controls is required.

In this role you will:

  • Design and specification development for controls and instrumentation systems with focus on SCADA & PLC systems.

  • Design and specification of instrumentation and process control devices for various processes including water/wastewater treatment and other light industrial applications.

  • Develop and implement industrial control systems configurations, graphics, databases and other connected systems.

  • Participate in the implementation of advanced software applications and automatic control strategies.

  • Design and specifications development for electrical distribution systems, MCC design, and motor schematic.

  • Prepare engineering documents, load list, cable schedule and equipment list.

  • Participate in simulations, testing and commissioning of process control applications.

  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving system issues.

  • Assist in the team achieving engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings and specifications) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of related experience with PLC control plant process or manufacturing environment, system design, modifications and analysis, or two year technology diploma in controls or instrumentation

  • Membership or eligibility for registration with APEGS as EIT is preferred;

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years applicable experience in DCS and PLC programming.

  • Good experience with applicable communication protocols.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently using sound judgement to make decisions.

  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and descriptive control narratives.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations applicable to the position’s area of work.

  • Willingness and ability to undertake additional training relating to the duties of the position.

  • Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (NEC or IEC exposure is an asset).

  • Requires knowledge of, and experience with, operating systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and related support systems. Demonstrated ability in the use of computer applications and systems related to the position and duties in process control.

  • AutoCAD knowledge is an asset

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $65000 to $85000.
