Director PO Tracking

Position Overview This position is responsible for leading a team of direct and indirect reports with open communication, continual training and development opportunities. This individual will lead and direct all functional and strategic activities to support the future growth of the Burlington business. This person will provide clear direction, monitor performance metrics, and implement process improvements to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. This role works within the merchandising operations sector. The team’s work has a direct impact on the receipt and flow of goods to over 1,000 stores. The director will work cross functionally with the merchant and supply chain organizations in support of all Burlington initiatives. A Day in the Life Leadership: Lead and develop a team of direct and indirect reports to track inbound shipments and problem-solve accompanying transportation issues Guide team to resolve complex internal and customer supply chain problems Lead with a collaborative spirit, demonstrate a growth attitude, be data driven and remain focused on key priorities Hire, develop, motivate, and retain top talent. Create an environment where people are motivated and encouraged to reach their full potential, through in the moment coaching, ongoing growth and development discussions, and assigning projects and tasks that provide the opportunity to build and refine associates' skills Champion change and help the team embrace ambiguity throughout the change process. Empower leadership team to make decisions and drive engagement in support of their own goals and those of the team. Business Acumen: Monitor and facilitate the flow of domestic and import merchandise from suppliers to the distribution centers. Identify and align with senior leadership to establish and implement SOPs for the team. Establish training protocols and reference materials that are reviewed regularly to incorporate process changes. Partner with IT department and third-party partners to develop a roadmap for data and information sharing through existing systems. Seek opportunities to enhance current systems and visibility. Monitor external environment and internal trends to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the supply chain. Develop and provide a strategic point of view fostering innovation and out-of-the-box thinking to problem solve and develop new and better solutions. Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit by generating ideas, insights, and solutions using analytical reasoning. Be a subject matter expert in departmental processes, tools, and integration points across the company as they relate to the success of the business model Analysis: Develop and update strategic plans to increase on-time fill rate and overall monthly receipts, considering resources, systems and processes that support business objectives. Provide data analytics on the performance of the operation through regular Key Performance Indicators. Develop and implement order tracking reports and dashboards to provide key shipping information to the business. Review team’s reporting information to ensure data integrity. Actively seek out process improvement opportunities to create efficiencies and continually strive for operational excellence. Identify and develop talent by analyzing the team’s performance and focusing on coaching opportunities. Relationship Management: Establish, build, and maintain strong partnerships at all levels within the merchant organization and vendor community Facilitate meetings with vendor partners and cross-functional teams to address issues and remove roadblocks Reinforce supply chain standards and processes with vendor community. Oversee investigations by direct reports into merchant and vendor concerns regarding supply chain service levels: direct team’s clear communication of findings and action plans to stakeholders. Collaborate closely with merchandising, DCs and logistics teams to ensure optimal performance; define and adhere to a streamlined and flexible work process that supports the off-price model. Develop a team that maintains a reputation of credibility and responsiveness to others. Represent Burlington as an executive leader at industry venues and events. Communicate to vendors and internal partners in a timely manner and provide status updates on open issues. Advise senior leadership of high-profile shipping incidents, status of ongoing projects and team performance. Provide updates on company initiatives and process changes to the Track & Trace team. Special Job Objectives: Partner with senior leadership to translate corporate initiatives into actionable projects with measurable outcomes. Demonstrate leadership and accountability by owning a special project from initiation through closeout. You'll Come With Education and Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree required Licenses/Certification/Registration: None Experience: 10 yrs. management experience in retail and/or merchandising operations. Must have experience leading large teams, including both direct and indirect reports. Experience in supply chain or logistics is a plus. Must have a progressive track record of increasing responsibility in retail or merchandising operations Expert knowledge in process improvement and performance management. Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment in addition to demonstrated experience and success developing and implementing high service support team. Skills and Abilities: Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with ability to think strategically. Proficient with Microsoft Office Strong verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to inspire confidence, communicate, and operate effectively with cross-functional partners as well as external partners and suppliers. Strong track record of success in people leadership including attracting, developing, motivating, and retaining industry leading talent. High personal and professional integrity.
