Director, Events Operations

Position Title: Director, Event Operations Reports to: Vice President, Event Operations Location: NYC or Remote We are seeking an experienced Director of Event Operations to join the Event Operations team. This role will be responsible to lead the venue sourcing, planning and delivery of CyberRisk Alliance’s Communities division. This senior leader ensures operational excellence, brand consistency, and a best in-class attendee and sponsor experience across all event formats. An ideal candidate would have experience in event management and coordination, customer service and financial tracking. Reporting to the VP Event Operations, the individual will work with sales, operations, executive directors, content, and other various parts of the business to deliver the highest level of precision and planning for our live and digital event portfolio. A successful candidate will be proactive, highly organized, and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills. A “can-do” attitude is a must. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience leading large-scale B2B events, preferably within the tech, media, or cybersecurity sectors. This position requires travel of up to 20% annually (averaging 1–2 trips per month) to oversee onsite execution and support key event operations. Responsibilities: Strategic Planning & Leadership • Develop and oversee the operational strategy for CRA’s Communities event portfolio, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and brand standards. • Lead the event operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. • Partner closely with executive leadership, sales, marketing, and editorial teams to translate strategic goals into flawless event execution. Operational Excellence • Own end-to-end logistics for all CRA events—venue selection, vendor negotiations, contract management, registration, A/V production, catering, and onsite execution. • Implement scalable systems and processes for event planning, budgeting, and post-event analysis. • Drive efficiency across workflows, ensuring high-quality delivery within timelines and budgets. • Oversee hybrid and virtual event operations, optimizing technology platforms and engagement tools. Financial Management • Develop and manage multimillion-dollar event budgets • Forecast and track event costs, ensuring ROI and profitability targets are met. • Negotiate vendor and supplier contracts to optimize arenaflex efficiency and service quality. Team Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration • Mentor and guide event managers, coordinators, and production partners. • Collaborate with marketing on audience acquisition strategies and creative execution. • Partner with sales to deliver sponsor commitments and activation excellence Qualifications: • 8+ years of progressive experience in event operations or production, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. • Proven track record managing complex, multi-location, and high-profile B2B events. • Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor relationship management abilities. • Deep understanding of hybrid/virtual event technologies is a plus. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment • Exceptional organizational, project, and time management skills with a strong attention to detail • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and timely manner • Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel and Power Point) • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% annually for onsite event management. Job Information (NYC) For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York City, CRA is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to New York City and takes into account numerous factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to a candidates' qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and location.
