Your Role

This role will be focused on growing our cadastral surveying business in the Greater Ottawa Area.

The Account Manager is responsible for Quoting, Project Manager mentorship and Business Development tasks.


Job Requirements

  • Must know the general industries that relate to surveying: building, planning, engineering, underground utilities, etc.
  • Must have humility, be approachable and also be comfortable offering guidance to Project Managers working on their projects. Must have knowledge of key markets within IBW's service area.
  • Must have connections within the industry and sufficient networking experience with a deep understanding of the Ottawa Cadastral market and its clientele


Your Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the quotations that provide the expertise to meet client needs
  • Mentorship and development of IBW Project Managers
  • Guide Project Managers in project execution
  • Help identify market opportunities and trends
  • Seek out new business and achieve agreed upon success ratios
  • Manage projects where necessary


Quote & Project Responsibilities

Each of the responsibilities outlined below is a leadership responsibility that the Account Manager provides to the Project Managers:

  • Managing Scope: Projects need to have a defined Scope of Work (SOW), and this must be broken down and managed through a series of actions to accomplish the SOW. This must be clearly defined in the quote stage and communicated to the Project Manager.
  • Managing Time/Schedule: Projects must be delivered on time. The AM is responsible for maintaining close contact with their respective Project Managers to ensure projects are completed promptly, according to the original timeline agreed upon.
  • Managing Costs: Responsible for quoting or overseeing the quoting process on all assigned projects. Quotes must accurately reflect the associated costs of the project, along with any potentially additional costs and should be aware of the geographic opportunities and restrictions when determining pricing excellence.
  • Managing Communication: Projects involve multiple stakeholders who directly benefit from the project outcomes. Ensuring that all participants are properly communicating, verbally or in writing, is a must for a well-run project. AMs are responsible for making sure that the PMs are providing excellent communication between the project team and the client.
  • Training: Responsible for training and mentoring Project Managers and Quote Administrators to enhance their knowledge of the products and services provided to our clients.

Business Development Responsibilities

  • New Work: AM's serve a key role in developing relationships with existing and new clientele. It is their responsibility to actively develop and seek new work opportunities leveraging their network and expertise. AMs are also required to attend conferences and industry events.
  • Market Trends: AM's should be in tune with and analyze local/broad market trends. They should work with this information and the Business Development Manager to actively seek opportunities.
  • Client Relationships: In addition to maintaining existing relationships, build new relationships and expand overall reach in pre-defined regions and market segments.
  • Revenue Growth Responsibility: Define clear KPI's for revenue growth with the Business Development Manager on an annual basis. These KPI's are to be discussed regularly for performance measures and strategic adjustments.
  • Networking and Partnerships: AM's are responsible for attending industry conferences and events to build IBW's network and contribute to referral business. They are also to actively look to foster industry partnerships that may be of mutual benefit.
  • Other duties as required.

Performance-Based Compensation Structure:
At IBW, we believe in rewarding impact through a transparent, performance-driven model. To support your transition into the Ottawa market, your first year will be a 100% fixed salary to allow you to build your pipeline and integrate with our project teams.


Following the first year, you will move to a Base + Variable structure. This model is designed to normalize performance across all seniority levels, ensuring that compensation is a direct reflection of your results.
