Class B: Route Driver

Job description:

We are seeking a full-time Class-B route driver to join our Trash and Recycling Collection and Delivery team. You will operate specialized heavy-duty trucks to collect and transport solid waste materials and our equipment handling truck for deliveries. Drivers must safely maneuver in residential neighborhoods while navigating high traffic and sometimes congested roads and alleys. On-the-job training, clean and safe equipment, and an atmosphere that encourages independent thinking as well as teamwork to complete each day safely.

Duties and Responsibilities

As part of our collection team, your responsibilities will include:

· Use route maps to navigate route and collect solid waste material.

· Perform pre/post trip truck inspection to ensure safe operating conditions.

· Operate automated tipping device to empty carts.

· Completely empty all carts and leave customer location clean and free of debris.

· Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.

· Assist other collection drivers as directed to meet Company needs.

· Notify Customer Service or Dispatch of service problems or breakdown issues.

· Complete end of day documentation, clean and refuel truck.

As part of our delivery team, your responsibilities will include:

· Use a tablet to navigate a delivery route and manage equipment electronically

· Operate overhead doors and a liftgate tailgate to maneuver equipment in & out of the truck

· Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner

· Repair, remove, deliver equipment onsite

· Must be able to handle equipment up to 75lbs

· Complete pre & post trip documentation daily

· Notify Customer Service or Dispatch of service problems or breakdown issues.

Qualifications and Skills

· Hold current CDL license and Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

· Commercial driving experience preferred.

· Physical strength to occasionally push, pull carts up to 150 lbs. plus bending, twisting and lifting.

· Self-motivated to continuously improve.

· Proficient working independently and as part of a team effort.

· Ability to manage time to achieve route collection goals.

· Great attention to detail and ability to read digital maps and mapping systems.

· Knowledge of the Duluth, Superior and surrounding areas preferred.

Job Type: Full-time; Monday – Friday (some Saturdays following Holidays).

Starting Wage: $33.00 to $38.00 per hour - depending on qualifications, with potential wage increases during training & reviews
