The Job
This is a Casual After Hours position. The incumbent reports to the Service Manager responsible for After Hours Coordination. Primary responsibilities include responding to calls from the community and service users, completing initial assessment of information & documentation on referred cases, attending to assess and ensure the safety of children & youth referred to the Society. This is an on-call position during non-business hours (evenings, nights and weekends) for the Agency’s emergency-based After-Hours call service. Must be an Authorized Child Protection Worker in the province of Ontario. The incumbent will have access to a supervisor while on duty. All actions must be fully recorded and forwarded promptly to the appropriate office. A Casual employee is one who works on an as-needed basis for the agency. Casual staff have the opportunity to advise the organization of their availability and we will work together to determine a fit based on your availability and the needs of the organization. This is a Bargaining Unit position with CUPE local 5319.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Arts in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Broad knowledge of the Child Welfare/Children’s Mental Health system.
- Ability to accurately assess risk based on intake information.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and support people in risk situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- A thorough understanding of anti-oppression values and principles
- Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle is required.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
Compensation: Stipend per shift plus $42.88 per hour for active hours
