Overview As a BIM Specialist (Electrical), you will be responsible for developing and maintaining electrical models, assisting in coordination efforts, and ensuring quality control of BIM deliverables. You will work closely with electrical contractors, project managers, foremen, and field teams to ensure constructability, accuracy, and seamless execution of electrical systems. What You Will Do • Project Setup & Execution - Support BIM project setup, document management, and deliverable coordination. • Technical Modeling & Coordination - Develop detailed electrical models, resolve clashes, and optimize layouts. • Quality Assurance & Documentation - Ensure electrical models, installation drawings, and prefabrication drawings meet industry and client standards. • Client Collaboration & Problem Solving - Work closely with electrical contractors, foremen, and project managers to optimize project success. Key Responsibilities Project Setup & Coordination • Understand project scope, review contract documents, and participate in kickoff meetings. • Develop and maintain BIM models for electrical systems, ensuring alignment with project requirements. • Organize and manage project documents, installation drawings, and revision tracking. • Ensure file naming, folder structures, and document sharing following company standards. • Assist the VDC Project Manager in setting up BIM execution strategies and coordination. Quality Control & Assurance (QA/QC) • Conduct daily model reviews to track progress and ensure accuracy. • Review and redline electrical drawings, submittals, and contract documents. • Ensure all electrical deliverables meet client standards, installation requirements, and NEC codes. • Communicate with foremen to translate field best practices into the model. • Perform QA/QC on installation drawings, ensuring precision before release to the field. Client Collaboration & Problem Solving • Act as a frontline representative for BIM support with electrical contractors and field teams. • Work hand-in-hand with foremen to address constructability concerns and optimize electrical layouts. • Attend weekly BIM coordination meetings, present issues, and contribute to problem resolution. • Support remote teams, provide technical direction, and ensure modeling efficiency. • Assist with site visits to validate constructability and improve future BIM workflows. What We're Looking For • 3+ years of experience in BIM for electrical construction. • Strong knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Procore. • Familiarity with electrical systems, conduit routing, NEC codes, and field installation practices. • Experience working with multidisciplinary coordination efforts in BIM. • Ability to analyze modeling challenges and provide constructible solutions. • Strong ability to collaborate with contractors, project managers, and field teams. • Take full responsibility for BIM model accuracy, project success, and team collaboration. Work Environment • Office-based or remote with some site visits as needed. • Collaborative environment (virtual or in person) with frequent team meetings and project briefings. • Potential for travel depending on project locations.
