Role: Accounts Assistant (Purchase Ledger)

Job Type: 15 months FTC, full time

Salary: £25,000 plus (depending on experience)

Location: Southampton

Hours: 09:00 – 17:00, 35 hours per week

· Remote working until mid-July due to office refurbishments

· From mid-July the role will be hybrid (3 days in the office and 2 days from home)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and forward-thinking law firm as an Accounts Assistant (Purchase Ledger), reporting to the Management Accountant. This is a 15-month fixed term contract covering maternity leave. As the Accounts Assistant (Purchase Ledger), you will be doing such tasks as processing purchase ledger invoices, entering new suppliers, providing holiday and sickness cover for Accounts Assistants and investigating queries and statement differences.

Duties and Responsibilities of Accounts Assistant:

· Processing purchase ledger invoices – ensuring that the correct authorisation procedure has been followed.

· Processing agent’s ledger invoices

· Processing of staff expenses

· Entering new suppliers into the finance system

· Examining supplier statements and investigating differences

· Investigating queries from suppliers and fee earners as required

· Providing holiday and sickness cover for the other Accounts Assistants

· Such other duties may be required from time to time

About You:

· Prior experience of working within a finance role is essential

· Have prior experience of processing purchase ledger invoices

· Have prior experience of working with Aderant / CMS

· Have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Exhibit good inter-personal skills to be able to work collaboratively with other members of the finance team, and with fee earners and paralegals

· Demonstrate good time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
